Help Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans
& Acadiana to
Fight Hunger and Help Rebuild
New Orleans and South Louisiana!
Due
to Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, thousands of people in the hurricane-affected
areas have lost their homes, jobs, means of transportation or
all of the above. These people are faced with the daily challenge
of having to rebuild their homes and their lives. And as a result
of the hurricanes, they have very little resources to feed themselves
and their families.
Since
Katrina made landfall, Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New
Orleans and Acadiana has distributed over 52 million pounds of food and supplies to people in need in the hurricane-affected
areas. This rate of distribution since August 29, 2005 is almost
four times greater than our entire distribution in the previous
year (14.2 million pounds). This distribution represents a value
of approximately $77.48 million in resources sent into the
communities affected by these storms. In the coming months, Second
Harvest Food Bank will continue this elevated level of distribution
to people returning to the New Orleans area and to outlying communities
servicing New Orleans evacuees.
BUT
WE CAN'T DO IT ALONE.
We need YOUR help.
Help
us make a difference and ensure that those in need in our community
will not go hungry in the wake of this unprecedented catastrophe.
